Hal Smith was the first Whit, replaced by Paul Herlinger in 1996, followed by Andre Stojka in 2009. But we've had another actor on the show who's been voicing Mr. Whittaker longer than anyone else. Jim Custer began voicing young adult Whit in the 1989 episode Rescue from Manatugo Point. He last played Whit in the 2018 episode Charlotte. That's nearly 30 thirty years of voicing the same character. Jim Custer passed away on May 5, 2019. On this week's edition of the Official Adventures in Odyssey Podcast, the AIO team gets together to remember working with Jim over the years. Former executive producer Chuck Bolte, writer/director Bob Hoose, and actor Gary Reed (voice of Jeff Lewis) are interviewed. They share stories about knowing Jim before Adventures in Odyssey, his Christian witness, and the Jeremiah People. They also talk about Jim's ability to serve and connect with people, his sense of humor, being on Odyssey and much more. Check out the podcast interview.
